Need to find a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal article for your assignment? 

Don't be fooled by the popular magazine articles found in many of the databases.

 

                     How do you know which type you have found?

 

Peer-reviewed Articles:

Popular Magazine Articles:

  are written for scholars and researchers in
  the field.

  are written for the general public.

  are longer and go into depth on the
  subject.

  are shorter and cover a wide range of
  topics.

  contain few photographs or advertisements.

  contain many photographs and
  advertisements.

  include a list of sources (bibliography).

  rarely include a list of sources
  (bibliography)

  are published on a quarterly or monthly
  basis.

  are published once per week or monthly.
