Dorothy Day was an American journalist and social activist who believed in distributionism.  She worked closely with activist Peter Maurin during the 1930's.  They established the Catholic Worker Movement, which is a pacifist movement that combines direct aid to the poor and homeless with nonviolent direct action on their behalf.  It is still used today.  She was the editor of Catholic Worker until her death in 1980.

Ade Bethune was a liturgical artist and was associated with the Catholic Worker Movement.  She was an advocate of traditional iconography and had reworked the masthead of the Catholic Worker.

John Gilmary Shea was a Catholic historian, editor, and writer.  He also specialized in native Americans in the United States.
