We still encourage you continue to use our print books and print periodicals. However, if you pick up one of these items, please do not put it back on the shelf. Instead, please place the books or periodicals on a nearby reshelving cart. Even if you seem healthy, and you may be an asymptomatic carrier, and it would be safer for everyone if you place your book on a reshelving cart so we can quarantine those materials.
Patrons are asked to bring books they would like to check out to the main circulation desk. Patrons will be asked for their name, which the library staff will use to look up the patron’s account. The patron will then to read to the staff member the barcode for each item being checked out, and the staff member will check out those items and verify the titles of each item being checked out. This process will eliminate the need for additional handling of books.
A cart will be placed at the entrance of the library where patrons may return checkout materials. All materials will be quarantined for 72 hours before they are placed back into circulation.
Interlibrary Loan Materials
Patrons may continue to request articles and print books through interlibrary loan. All interlibrary loan materials will be placed in plastic bags with the patron’s name and can be picked up at the library’s front counter. The use of plastic bags both protects the patron’s privacy while also limiting the potential spread of germs on the books.
Remote students should send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to inform the Interlibrary Loan Department they will be requesting books through Interlibrary Loan that will be sent to their home for use during the semester. Home address must be included on the email. The requestor will need to place an ILL Request for each book needed. Please note, text books and eBooks cannot be obtained through Interlibrary Loan. However if you only need a chapter from a book or an eBook, you can place a request for the chapter as if it is an article. Books must be returned before the due date giving extra days for mailing, or if needed place a renewal request a week before the due date. Follow all instructions attached to the book.
If you need a book from our collection you will need to email email@example.com with the title of the book, the author, call number, and ISBN number. You will have use of book from our collection for the whole semester.
