BUS 400 Business Ethics in Society

Course Descriptions

BUS 400 - Business Ethics in Society: A required capstone course for senior business majors. Examines the critical role of values, character, ethics and social responsibility in creating a moral leader for all sectors of society. Explores the responsibilities of business to different stakeholder groups, based on society's changing expectations and new social issues. Introduces key concepts of servant-leadership, stewardship, corporate social responsibility and community. Demonstrates the necessity of moral leadership at the personal, interpersonal, organizational, societal and global levels.

BUS 404 - Business Policy: A study of the design and execution of a firm's competitive strategy. Analytic, decision-making and communication skills are developed through guiding a firm in an Internet-based strategic management simulation.

BUS 400 Semester Project

This assignment aims to analyze the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility and its principles, understand its significance in modern business practices, and critically evaluate the contents of CEO Larry Fink's 2019 shareholder letter.

This assignment aims to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and an understanding of the practical application of sustainability principles in business management. It encourages students to use real-world examples and industry tools to assess and improve companies' sustainability practices. Students must demonstrate their ability to effectively analyze, synthesize, and present their findings and recommendations. The assignment encourages students to think critically, consider ethical dimensions, and explore the role of stakeholders in driving sustainable practices.

Additionally, students should demonstrate proficiency in research methods to gather relevant data, analyze sustainability performance, and compare companies within their respective industries. They should leverage the tools and reports to evaluate the chosen company's sustainability practices comprehensively.

Through this assignment, students will gain valuable insights into the practical application of sustainability concepts and tools. They will enhance their analytical skills, develop a deep understanding of CSR factors, and strengthen their ability to critically evaluate and recommend strategies for improving sustainability performance.
